Our Content Marketing Manager, Julia O’Connor, recently went live on Instagram to ask our followers a pretty simple question: What do you want to know about content marketing? We had some really great questions come up and wanted to share some in-depth answers with you all right here on our blog! Take a look at what Julia had to say in response to these fantastic content marketing questions.
Question: How Do You Decide on Blog Topics?
I love this question. There are a lot of great strategies out there for picking blog topics. Here are some of the ways that I like to do this. First and foremost, I set aside about 20 minutes at the end of every month to plan all my blog content for the upcoming month. I like to do this because it gives me the space to plan ahead and choose topics that are interesting, relevant, and engaging. Next, I look for any important upcoming dates. If there’s a holiday or special event, I like to capitalize on it by writing a blog tied to the occasion. Here’s an example of a Thanksgiving blog I recently wrote. Finally, I recommend looking at your past insights. We like to look at our Google Analytics every month to determine what kind of content is performing well. Once we have that information, I like to make sure that I include a blog with similar content into my calendar.
Question: How Do I Choose A Marketing Strategy?
This is a great question! Choosing the right marketing strategy is absolutely crucial for generating leads and driving sales. So how do you make sure that your strategy is effective? First, I recommend doing an audit of your top competitors. Take a look at what they do well and ask yourself if that is something that could also work for you. Then, take it one step further and find ways to improve upon their idea. Next, identify the platforms you want to be on. There are so many places, besides your website, where you can showcase your business. Blogs, social media, and podcasts are just some of the platforms you can utilize in your marketing strategy. Find out where your target market is and then join them there! Finally, look internally and make a plan. Regardless of the tactics you select, you’ll need people internally to create, publish, and manage your content. Make sure that you have what you need to make your marketing strategy a success.
Question: Do I Really Need a Blog?
YES! You absolutely need to be blogging. There are so many reasons to post blog content to your website. First, it goes a long way in making you an industry leader. The more you post about relevant industry topics, the more likely you are to become the go-to place for information. Use your blog to share information about what’s happening in your industry and watch as your following grows. Another great thing about blogging is that it organically increases your SEO. Search engines like Google and Bing have algorithms in place that prioritize websites with lots of relevant content. Blogs area a goldmine for this kind of copy. For the best results, make sure to include plenty of keywords in your posts. This will go a long way in boosting your ranking across search engine sites.
I hope these answers will help you feel more confident in your content marketing efforts! Of course, executing these strategies effectively requires a lot of time and energy.
